Writer's Block: Globetrotting

If you were given the opportunity to spend two weeks in any country in the world free of charge, which country would you choose, and why?
Japan. No doubt about it. I find the Japanese culture fascinating and I love their architectural design. It is my dream to go there, but it might be a heck of a long time before I ever do. But I'm determined to get there eventually. It's just a matter of when.

Writer's Block: Open book test

Wow, I haven't written in here in ages.

Based on the books on your bookshelf, what conclusions would people draw about you?

If someone were to see my bookshelf and hadn't met me, they would think I am a pre-teen. Most of my books are aimed for youth. I'm a big fan of Harry Potter and manga and the shelfs that aren't covered in books are covered by action figures. I guess I'll always be a kid at heart. Not that I think that the things I'm into are considered to be just for children. I think that way of thinking is ridiculous. It takes the fun out of everything to limit yourself to just what society considers "mature". And I think everyone could do with a good dose of fun, don't you?

Writer's Block: Space Wars

Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Serenity, Alien, 2001—there is a long list of movies and TV shows that take place in space. Which is your favorite?
I am a huge fan of shows or movies that take place in space, which is kind of ironic because you couldn't pay me to be an astronaut. ^_^
My biggest space love is Star Wars. I am a huge Star Wars fan. I know the names of so many characters that never even speak in the series that it's become ridiculous. And Han Solo is the best thing since sliced bread.
I also love Stargate and Star Trek. They are both wonderful series. My family has all ten seasons of Stargate on DVD and have been thinking about getting Star Trek: The Next Generation on DVD as well. TNG is my favorite Trek series. Patrick Stewart is one of my absolute favorite actors. And Brent Spiner is fabulous.
Which brings me to Doctor Who. It's not totally in space, but it is enough that I think it counts. I LOVE this show. I am going to bawl my eyes out when Ten regenerates. As soon as I get enough money, I am hoping to own this whole series as well.

Writer's Block: Conversion Rate

Have you ever considered converting to another religion?
I was born into Christianity. To be honest, no I never even thought about converting to another religion. Doubted it? Sure, at times, but I think everyone probably has at some point or another. But I think my life has been bettered by believing what I do. I don't consider it a disadvantage that I've never known anything else. I believe I've been born into something worth believing in. And knowing the people I do, and what they have chosen for their life, I doubt I really ever will stop believing. I have been surrounded by devout Christians my whole life and they are wonderful people. That's what makes me so upset when people bash Christians. Yes, there are some people who try to force their beliefs on others, but there are also a lot of people who don't. I don't like being grouped into a category I don't belong in. Anyway, I got a little off topic there. So yeah, the answer is no. I've never considered anything but Christianity.

Shawn Spencer, bananas

Writer's Block: In a Jam

If you were in trouble or ran afoul of the law, which fictional detective or investigator—from tv, movies, or books—would you want to help you?

This one is from about two weeks ago, but I just had to answer it.

Not that I'd ever get in trouble with the law, but if I did I'd ask Shawn Spencer (and Gus) to help me out. Seriously, if he was around I'd completely forget about my problems because I'd be on the floor laughing.

If I couldn't contact him (maybe he's working on a case at a pineapple farm or something) I'd get Jessica Fletcher. Angela Lansbury has always been one of my favorite actresses and I used to watch reruns of Murder She Wrote every chance I got.

I have a whole bunch of others, but I'll just stop right there because I watch a lot of investigative/mystery shows.

Writer's Block: Dream Job

If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?
I think that the best job in the world for me at least would be to be a "cast member" at Disney World. Ideally, I would like to be one of the people who dress up as a character (especially Belle, Alice, or Wendy), but I'm terrible at acting and can't think on the spot very well. I think just working there at all would be a dream come true for me. I've always been a Disney fan and being down there just makes me happy, which for me is very important. Plus I'm one of those people who thrives on change and the great thing about Disney is that it's constantly changing. I really do plan to try to get a job down there, but we'll see. It may happen, it may not. Either way, I'll definitely have to go there for a visit every once in a while. ^_^

Writer's Block: Half a Glass

Do you consider yourself an optimist, a pessimist, or a realist?
I wouldn't really consider myself a pessimist. I try really hard to stay happy and not look at the downside of things. But I also wouldn't consider myself an optimist either. I worry about things a lot and sometimes I just can't help but think that something is going to happen badly. However, I think I'd really consider myself a realist. I try to look at things at face value and make a descision whether the prognosis looks good or not based on that. To me, to be just pessimistic or just optimistic would be a bit naive in either respect. Both bad things and good things happen in life. What I mean is to be solely optimistic all the time would mean setting yourself up for disappointment. But to be solely pessimistic all the time would mean denying yourself from having hope. I believe that it's healthy to have a balance between the two and I'd like to think that I've accomplished that.

Have to start somewhere...

I decided to finally make another LJ. I've been thinking about doing it for a while. My other journal (dash_of_mystery) I have been using for mostly graphics, so I wanted to make a journal solely for the purpose of rambling. I'll probably mostly post answers to the daily "writer's block" on the home page, but I might rant once in a while too. I'm trying to work on my writing and thinking skills, so I thought this would be worth my while. I guess I'll stop right here for now, especially because no one is probably going to read this anyway. ^_^
